… just because Europeans prefer the taste of salmon.The Salmon and Trout Association (STA) has recently started an online petition highlighting the ‘massive damage that is being caused to wild salmon and sea trout stocks from inappropriate fish farm activities’. Their petition can be viewed on their website.The STA raises some very valid points which should have been addressed many years ago, it is only now following up on many years of genetic modification and weakening of wild populations; and

Environmental groups say they're appalled the province is considering massive increases in farmed salmon production in farms along critical wild salmon migration routes -- the Broughton Archipelago and northern Strait of Georgia among them.But the province denies that it's doing so.
